What is 4-HO-DPT Research Chemical?
4-HO-DPT or 4-hydroxy-N,N-dipropyltryptamine or Procin is a member of the Tryptamine class. This Product brings on the types of cognitive changes that are to be expected of psychedelics in the Tryptamine class. 4-HO-DPT was first synthesized by Alexander Shulgan the godfather of Psychedelics. Although very few reports are available regarding the effects of 4-HO-DPT when consumed by humans, Shulgan has mentioned it within his book ‘Tryptamines I have known and loved (TiHkaL)’. Although sharing part of its name with DPT, it is not the same substance. In fact, reports indicate it has significantly less uncomfortable side-effects than DPT especially physically. 4-HO-DPT or 4-hydroxy-N,N-dipropyltryptamine, is part of the Tryptamine class. It is a synthetic indole molecule of the class. All Tryptamines share the same core structure which is comprised of a bicyclic indole heterocyclic which can be found attached at R3 to an amino group by means of an ethyl side chain. This Product specifically is substituted at R4 of its indole heterocycle with a hydroxyl functional group OH–. Bound to the tryptamine backbone (DPT) is also two propyl chains connected to the RN. This Product is an N-substituted dipropyl homolog of psilocin (This Product).
Although little research has been done on This Product, there does seem to be some consistency regarding the effects of the research chemical on experimental research participants.
The following are some potential effects of 4-HO-DPT, due to the lack of research that has been done on 4-HO-DPT this is far from an exhaustive list:
- Physical euphoria
- Colour enhancement
- Cognitive euphoria
- Drifting effect on visual perception (morphing, melting, flowing, breathing)
What Are The Potential Side-Effects of 4-HO-DPT Chemicals?
It is important to take caution when experimenting with 4-HO-DPT due to the lack of research that has been shared on the chemical and its effect on humans.
The following is by no means an exhaustive list of the potential side-effects of 4-HO-DPT but will give an idea of the potential side-effects that may be experienced when research is conducted with the chemical.
Some of the known side-effects of 4-HO-DPT include:
- Increased heart rate: this seems to be a common side-effect regarding substances like 4-HO-DPT.
- Pupil dilation: participants have been reported to have shown larger pupils than normal under the influence of 4-HO-DPT.
- Sedation: Higher doses have been known to cause a sedative effect on participants.
- Nausea: although not very common it is a side-effect that has been reported a few times especially in the period just before ‘coming up’.
Tolerance to 4-HO-DPT’s effects happens almost instantaneously. However, within 7 days the participant is back to baseline. Unlike many other Tryptamines, the use of 4-HO-DPT has cross-tolerance clashes with other psychedelics, therefore their potency will not remain the same.
UK – 4-HO-DPT is considered a Class A drug.
Germany – 4-HO-DPT is controlled under NpSG.
Switzerland – is not controlled under Buchstabe A, B, C, D. It could be considered legal.
Sweden – 4-HO-DPT is not yet classified as a drug. Requires a special permit for purchase and sale.
USA – 4-HO-DPT is unscheduled however due to it being an analog of psilocin it may find the experimenter prosecuted under the Federal Analogue Act.
